Every dataset on Path2Japan in one place — cities, visas, occupations, comparisons and calculators, all driven by the same verified entity data.

Population and foreign-resident figures are prefecture-scoped (Tokyo-to, Osaka-fu, etc.) so cities stay comparable. Rent ranges are typical 1R/1K listing ranges; living cost and pay ranges are Path2Japan estimates built from official statistics and market samples — they are not official statistics.

Where this data comes from — FAQ

Where does Path2Japan get its data?

From primary official sources — the Immigration Services Agency, MHLW, MEXT, e-Stat and municipal governments. Every figure on these pages carries the source and the date it was retrieved, so you can check it yourself.

How often is the data updated?

Each dataset is refreshed when its official source publishes — residence statistics twice a year, minimum wage each autumn, school lists as new rounds are certified. The retrieval date is printed on every page.

Can I trust these numbers for a visa or job application?

Use them to plan and compare, then confirm anything decisive against the official source we link. Figures change, and the authority handling your case always goes by the current official record.
